With so many people using the app, it’s unsurprising that sometimes users run into errors. If you’re experiencing problems with your TikTok app on your Android device, then here are some quick fixes to try.

1. The TikTok App Isn’t Opening

If you’re trying to open TikTok on your phone and the app simply won’t open, then this could be a fault with TikTok’s server or a sign that your phone cache needs emptying. Hours of scrolling on TikTok will save lots of temporary data that can sometimes cause problems. This can be easily cleared through your phone’s settings.

To Clear the TikTok App Cache

Go to your phone’s settings. Search for the Apps or Manage Apps section. Scroll down your apps or search for TikTok in the search bar. Select TikTok and then view your storage. Select Clear cache

To Clear All App Caches

On some phones, you can clear all your app caches in one go. On a Samsung Galaxy device:

Go to your phone’s settings. Scroll down and select Device Care or Device Maintenance. Select the Optimize Now button.

This will clear your cache and close any unused background apps that may harm your device’s performance.

2. You Can’t Record Audio or Video in the TikTok App

TikTok requires permission to use your camera and your microphone. Usually, permission settings are set when you first download the app. If you’re having trouble shooting a video or recording a voiceover on TikTok, then you may not have granted TikTok access to your camera or microphone.

To check TikTok’s permissions and ensure that the app has permission to use your camera and microphone, you’ll need to do the following.

Open your phone’s settings. Go into the Apps or Manage Apps section of your settings. Find TikTok. Select Permissions.

From the Permissions section, you should be able to turn on or off permission to use your camera and microphone.

If you’re curious to see the full list of permissions that your TikTok app has, then you can do this by selecting the three-dots menu in the top right-hand corner of your screen and then opening All Permissions.

3. You’re Unable to Log-In

If you’re struggling to log in to your TikTok app, then the most common reason is your details are incorrect. If your phone is trying to auto-fill your login information, then clear these fields and input your login details manually. Remember that your username is case-sensitive, and you don’t need to add an @.

If you’re still struggling to log in to your account, then go to the ‘?’ at the top right-hand corner of your screen and then select Logging in from the Feedback and help menu. From here, you will be able to recover your account by either entering your phone number, user name, or email address.

4. TikTok Keeps Crashing

If while using TikTok, the app keeps crashing, then this could be because you need to clear up space within your TikTok app. Downloads such as effects, filters, and stickers all take up space, and you may find that you need to clear your TikTok app cache.

To Clear Your TikTok App Cache and Downloads

Open the TikTok app and go to your profile. Select the three-dots menu in the top right-hand corner to open the Settings and privacy menu. Scroll down to the section labeled CACHE & CELLULAR DATA and select Free up space. From here, you can clear your cache and your downloads.

5. You See the Message “Unfortunately TikTok Has Stopped Working”

If your TikTok app keeps crashing and you see the message, “Unfortunately TikTok has stopped working”, then this is often because you are trying to run an outdated version of the app. This can be easily solved by keeping your phone apps up to date in the Play Store.

Go to the Play Store and search for TikTok. If your app is outdated, then there will be an Update button visible. Update the app and restart your phone.

If your TikTok app is already up to date, then some other fixes to try include: clearing your phone cache and restarting your phone, and if that fails, then uninstall and reinstall the TikTok app.

6. You’re Seeing a “Network Error” or “No Network Connection” Message

If your device has lost connection to the internet, then TikTok will display a “Network error” or “No network connection” message. Sometimes, this message will also be displayed if your internet is just running slowly or if you have not enabled data permissions.

Firstly, check your internet connection. If you’re using Wi-Fi, then check to make sure that your phone is still connected. If you’re using data, then check to see whether you’ve reached your data limit. If your internet connection appears stable and you have sufficient mobile data, then try closing the app and restarting your phone.

If the network error message is still displaying and you are using mobile data, then this could be because you are in Data Saver mode.

Go to your phone settings. Go into the Apps or Manage Apps section of your settings. Find TikTok and select Mobile data. From here, you will see the option to allow TikTok while Data saver is on. If this is currently toggled off, then switch it on to continue using mobile data in Data saver mode.

Fixing Common TikTok Errors

The vast majority of TikTok errors on Android devices can be solved by clearing your cache and keeping your TikTok app updated in the Play Store.

To keep all of your phone apps running smoothly, it’s recommended that you make use of the Device Care section of your phone’s settings, if you’ve got one. From here, you can schedule your phone to auto-optimize once a day, helping to keep your cache clear and TikTok running smoothly.

For issues that you can’t resolve using the tips above, TikTok has an extensive Feedback and Help section, which you can find under the menu in the top right-hand corner of your “Me” page. From here, you’ll be able to access the Help Center.
